Scope Change Request Overview

After the original baseline is set for a project, all changes needed for scope items, work packages, and scope assignments must go through a review process, which is initiated by submitting change requests. A single change request can have multiple change items listed in the request.

For scope items, change requests can be made to add new scope items to the project, change the quantity of existing scope items, and add or change CBS codes or cost categories.

For work packages, change requests can be made to add a new work package to the project, add new scope assignments to work packages, adjust scope assignment quantities, and transfer scope assignments to other work packages.

After a change request is made, the request needs to be reviewed and either approved or rejected. If changes are approved, the changes are reflected in the application. Approved changes are not reflected in the baseline until a new current baseline is set.

Approved scope item or work package change requests can be withdrawn and rejected scope item or work package change requests can be reopened for further evaluation or deletion, if needed.
