Associating Activities with Work Packages for Schedule Management Overview

If you use the application to manage your schedule and you use work packages, you can link activities to work packages to monitor progress more efficiently.

The activity and the work package must be associated with the same WBS. An activity can only be assigned to one work package.

Work packages inherit dates from their associated activities. When activities are linked to a work package, the dates of the work package are reset to reflect the earliest start and latest finish of all of its activity associations.

Note: The following dates do not inherit values from activities: Revised Start, Revised Finish, Installed Start, Installed Finish, Effective Start, and Effective Finish.

When unlinking all activities from a work package, the following occurs:

The inherited activity dates from the work package are removed.
The Original Start date of the work package is populated with the Data Date.
The Original Finish date of the work package is populated with the Data Date plus 5 days, excluding holidays.
