Creating Alerts: Example

Imagine that you want to create an alert that sends you a system notification when a project cost threshold is met. As a cost manager overseeing multiple projects, you want to be alerted when the proposed budget of a project exceeds $800,000. You can configure an alert from the Alerts page of any project to send a custom message when the threshold is met.

Creating an Alert

  1. In the object selector, select a project.
  2. In the sidebar, select Summary & Settings.
  3. On the Summary & Settings menu, select Alerts.
  4. On the Alerts page, select Add.
  5. In the Select Project Field dialog box, select Project, select Proposed Budget, and then select Select.
  6. Select Save.

Defining the Threshold

  1. In the Threshold and Alerts settings pane, in the Threshold section, in the Operator list, select is greater than.
  2. In the Value field, enter $800,000.
  3. Select Save.

Setting Alert Delivery Options

  1. In the Threshold and Alerts settings pane, in the Alert section, select Assign and then select User.
  2. In the Select User dialog box:
    1. Enter part or all of your username or personal name into the Search field.
    2. Select your username and select Select.
  3. In the username row, select the Notification check box.
  4. In the Message field, enter The project proposed budget has exceeded $800,000.
  5. Select Save.
