About HierarchiesSome data objects, such as account, book, opportunity, and territory, support a hierarchical (tree) structure. For example, the territory hierarchy appears in multiple subject areas and is usually used to store sales territory information. Oracle CRM On Demand supports 10 levels of hierarchy. For example, a territory hierarchy implemented for a company in the United States might have this kind of structure:
In Oracle CRM On Demand Answers, the previous hierarchy is more compressed, as shown in the following table. The maximum number of hierarchy levels that is supported is 10. So, if a hierarchy has less than ten levels, then the lowest-level values are repeated for those levels (Hyannis for Level 5 through Level 1). This feature enables you to report your related metrics at any level of the hierarchy.
In the Oracle CRM On Demand Answers user interface, the hierarchy attributes are in a subfolder under the main dimension folder, such as account, territory, and so on. All entries are displayed in alphabetical order. |
