Creating a Block

To create a Block:

  1. From the OPERA Cloud menu, select Bookings, select Blocks, and then select Manage Block.
  2. Click I Want To . . . Create Block.
  3. Enter or select one or more profiles to attach to the block.
    To create a profile, click the magnifying glass icon and then click I Want To . . . Create a Profile. If you don't attach a profile, the system creates a Group profile after creating the block.
  4. Define the Block Details:
    1. Enter the Start Date and End Date.
    2. Enter the Block Name and Block Code. You can enter a code or select Get Default Block Code to have the system generate a code for you.
    3. Enter the Market and Source fields. These fields populate automatically if the rate code you select is configured with a Market and Source code.
    4. Enter the Origin. This field is optional.
    5. In the Inventory Control drop-down menu, select Non Elastic, Elastic, or Sell Limit. Set the Shoulder start date and Shoulder end date, if applicable.
    6. Select an option for the Non Compete field. This option is available if the application parameter Blocks - Non Compete is active.
    7. Optionally enter an Industry.
    8. Select an option for Rate Protect. This option is available if the application parameter Blocks - Lowest Guaranteed Rate is active.
  5. Select Rates and Packages (optional):
    1. Click Edit to select or deselect the check boxes for Print Rate, Suppress Rate, Rate Guarantee.
    2. Click Add to add a Rate Code.
    3. On the pop-up page, select a rate code to apply to the block.
    4. Click the Packages tab, click New, and then click Select Package to add packages to the block.
    5. Click OK when you have added all packages.
  6. Update Block Details:
    1. Select a new status for the block. The Reservation Type appears. Alternatively, leave the initial status as is and enter or search for the Reservation Type.
    2. Enter the Reservation Type.
    3. If necessary, update the Block Owner and Room Owner.
    4. Enter a Cutoff Date or enter the number of Cutoff Days (optional).
    5. Select a Reservation Method, such as Call In or Import Rooming List (optional).
    6. Select dates for Rooming List Due, Decision Date, and Follow-up Date (optional).
    7. Enter the Commission % (optional).
    8. Enter a Breakfast Description and Breakfast Price, and select or deselect the check box for Breakfast Included.
    9. Enter a Porterage Price, and select or deselect the check box for Porterage Included.
  7. Add Catering Details (optional) :
    This section is only available when the application function Events – Diary is active.
    1. Click Catering Owner.
    2. Enter the number of Event Attendees and click Attendees Guaranteed if guaranteeing that number as the minimum guaranteed.
    3. Enter the in-house representative or contact on the day of the event in the Onsite Name field and the Post As name field.
  8. Enter additional details in the GIID field.
  9. Click Save and go to Presentation to save the block and continue to the Manage Blocks screen. Alternatively, click Save Changes to save the block and return to the Block Search screen.
