This illustration shows two CDBs. Both CDBs have a CDB$ROOT container, a PDB$SEED container plugged into the root, and several PDBs plugged into the root. The bottom CDB has one new PDB. The illustration shows a database link going from the bottom CDB to the source PDBs in the top CDB. The illustration shows the files of the source PDB. The illustration shows the source PDB files copied to a new location. The copied files are the files of the new PDB. The illustration shows the copied files associated with the new PDB. A CREATE PLUGGABLE DATABASE ... FROM statement uses these copied files to create the new PDB.
