Message Processors

The role of the Message Processors (MPs) is to provide the Diameter protocol messaging interfaces and message processing support for DSR Applications. NOAMs and SOAMs replicate configuration and provisioning data to the MPs, which measurements, events, alarms, and log data to the OAM servers.

Diameter Agent Message Processors (DA-MPs) host the following DSR Applications:
  • Range Based Address Resolution (RBAR)
  • Full Address Based Resolution (FABR)
  • Policy and Charging Application (PCA)
  • Gateway Location Application (GLA)
  • Diameter-MAP Interworking Application (DM-IWF)

The RBAR and PCA applications can run on the same DA-MP and RD-IWF.

PCA and GLA can run on the same DA-MP or on separate DA-MPs.

FABR and DM-IWF must run on the same DA-MP if both process the same Diameter Request message (Application Chaining).

RBAR and DM-IWF must run on the same DA-MP if both process the same Diameter Request message (Application Chaining).

SS7-MPs host the MAP-Diameter Interworking Application (MD-IWF).

IPFE runs as separate MPs.
