About External Fields

Note: To write data to an LDAP data source, you must define external fields on the External Fields tab.
External fields simplify writing data to an LDAP data source. External fields define short names and map them to specific LDAP data source attributes and distinguished names (DNs). Then you can use the same external field name when writing a policy that will be deployed across multiple MPE devices. The policy assigns a value and writes it to an LDAP server.
