Overview of Main Tasks

The main tasks described in this document include:

1. Create manageable objects for your system. Manageable objects are required to support the function of some policy conditions and actions. Create the necessary manageable objects before creating the related policies. See Configuring Manageable Objects for Use In Policies.
2. Create and deploy policy rules on the CMP system. For details, see:
   1. Managing Policy Rules
   2. Deploying Policies

3. Maintain your policy rules as needed using additional tasks described in Part I of this document.
   • Manage your library of deployed rules. See Managing the Policy Library.
   • Consolidate policy rules with similar structures using policy tables. See Managing Policy Tables.
   • Specify the order in which policy rules are applied during a subscriber request. See Managing Policy Groups.
   • Simplify the creation of multiple similar policy rules. See Managing Policy Templates.
   • Test policy table changes by consolidating multiple similar policy tables using virtual policy tables. See Managing Virtual Policy Tables.
   • Save CMP Records to the CMP database at a specific point in time. See Managing Policy Checkpoints.
