Major Groups

A major group is a basic category of a menu item, such as Food or Liquor. Every menu item belongs to a major group. Examples of major groups include:

  • Food

  • Liquor

  • Beer

  • Wine

You can configure major groups based on your database and reporting needs. For example, you can configure major groups to represent leased outlets so that an accountant can immediately see sales figures for a tenant.

Family Groups

A family group is a category of menu items. Every menu item belongs to a family group. A family group is a subcategory of a major group. For example, if the major group is Food, its family groups are
  • Appetizer

  • Salad

  • Dessert

  • Entrée
