Setting File Management Permissions

In some installations, the internal Microsoft Windows user that runs the Engagement web services on a Simphony application server does not have sufficient permission to create and manage files (such as logs) within the folder where the software is installed. A batch file is available to run after installation, which enables the appropriate permissions. Contact Oracle Support for the EngagementFolderPerm.bat batch file.

As as alternative to running the script through the batch file, you can manually set the permissions by following these steps:

  1. Use Windows Explorer to browse to the web root folder of the EGateway application (for example, [Drive Letter]:\MICROS\Simphony2).
  2. Locate the Engagement sub folder within the EGateway web root folder (for example, [Drive Letter]:\MICROS\Simphony2\Engagement).
  3. Right-click the Engagement folder, select Properties, and then click the Security tab.
  4. Click Edit.
  5. Click Add.
  6. From the Select Users or Groups dialog, enter IIS APPPOOL\WCCPool, and then click OK.
  7. From the Permissions for Engagement dialog, select WCCPool, allow the following permissions for the user, and then click OK.
    • Modify

    • Read & execute

    • List folder contents

    • Read

    • Write

  8. Open a Command prompt window and enter iisreset. Microsoft Internet Information Services should successfully reset within a few minutes.
