Installing the Client Application Loader (CAL) on the Android Device

  1. To initiate CAL authentication on an Android device with Simphony version 2.9 and earlier:
    1. Open an Internet browser window on the Android device.
    2. Browse to the application server: http://[servername or IP]:8080/EGateway/Download/CAL/Android/McrsCALClient_[CALversion].apk. McrsCALClient_[CALversion].apk downloads to the device. (The CAL version is likely 129 or later.)
    3. Open the Downloads menu on the Android device.
    4. Tap the McrsCALClient_[CALversion].apk file to start the installation.
    5. If prompted, select the device Package Installer or local application for Android file installation, and then tap Always.
    6. If you receive a prompt for clearing instructions, tap OK.
    7. Tap Install. CAL installs and notifies you upon completion.
    8. Tap Done.
    9. Press the Home button on the Android device to prompt for CAL Launcher.
    10. Tap the Micros CAL option, and then tap Always.
    11. If you receive a prompt with instructions about defaults, tap OK. The CAL Launcher home page appears. Installation of CAL is complete.
    12. Tap the CAL shortcut to launch CAL Admin.
    13. Enter the correct code based on the six-digit number shown at the top, and then tap Next.

CAL restricts access to CAL Admin and other areas on the Android device. You must enter a security code to access the CAL Admin configuration and settings on the device.

    14. CAL searches for available servers. If found, the available servers appear. Tap the desired server to populate the server information. If no servers are available, manually configure the server information.
    15. Tap Next to continue.
    16. Select the correct property for the device, and then tap Next to continue. CAL returns a list of defined workstations for the selected property.
    17. Tap the correct workstation for the device to populate the workstation information. If no workstations are available, manually configure the information for the workstation.
    18. Tap Save.
  2. To initiate CAL authentication on an Android device with Simphony version 2.9.1 and later:
    1. Ensure that you have the employee privilege to run CAL authentication using your EMC logon credentials.
    2. Deploy the CAL package version 139 to the Android devices.

See Configuring the Deployment Schedule to Install CAL on Workstations for instructions about deploying CAL packages.

    3. Start the Android device, enter your Simphony EMC User Name and Password, and then press Login.
    4. Select a workstation from the list, and then press Save. CAL performs the initial authentication.
    5. Enter your Simphony EMC User Name, and then press OK.
    6. Enter your Simphony EMC Password, and then press OK.
    7. If you are running a Simphony Standard or Premium Cloud Service environment, enter the Organization name, and then press OK.
