Add a Task from the Task Drawer

Modify a blank task card from the drawer beneath the planning board on the Work Plan screen. Cards for each company in the open task plan appear in the drawer. The task card automatically inherits values based on where you drag-and-drop it in the work plan. When the new task card is dropped on a specific date, it adopts the existing date and calendar information. Dropping a task card into an activity grouping band automatically associates the task card with the activity, and the task card adopts the visual style of the activity grouping. If you drag and drop a task card into a swimlane, the task card inherits those swimlane values as long as you have all necessary permissions to modify assignments.

Note: If there are multiple assignments in the drop location for your task card, all assignments will apply unless there is a conflict or an error.

To add a task from the task drawer:

  1. Navigate to the Project Home screen.
  2. Tap the Work Plan tile.
  3. On the Work Plan screen, tap Preferences.
  4. On the Refine screen, tap Task Plan, and then open a task plan.
  5. In the upper toolbar, tap Task Drawer Box with Lower Bar Highlighted Task Drawer to open the drawer.
  6. Scroll left or right to select a task card.
  7. Tap and hold a task card, drag it to the hopper or the planning board, and then drop it. Valid drop locations are highlighted and invalid drop locations are gray.
  8. You will be prompted to add task details such as task date and duration, and the task card will inherit properties that exist in its drop location. You can update task card details after dropping the card if you need to make additional changes.
