System Behavior Without Comfort Noise Transcoding

The following scenarios describe how the Oracle® Enterprise Session Border Controller (E-SBC) handles Comfort Noise (CN) packets without transcoding enabled.

Both sides offer and answer support for CN

CN packets pass through the E-SBC from the Offerer to the Answerer and from the Answerer to the Offerer.

Neither side offers or answers support for CN

Any silence in the audio stream passes through the E-SBC in the RTP audio packets.

One side supports CN, and the other side does not

The Offerer does not send CN packets because the Answerer advertises no support for CN. Any silence in the audio stream passes through the E-SBC in the RTP audio packets.
