Recording Progress for Head Contractors
Before you Begin
Approve Subcontractor progress claims before creating the client claim. Ensure all required Subcontractor claims have been received and approved. If you send your progress claim to the Signer before approving a Subcontractor's claim, the Subcontractor will be excluded from the period.
Recording you Progress
- Navigate to your Billing Workflow
- From the Tasks tray in the header, choose the Enter Billing link with the correct draw number.The link name will change depending on your workflow step.
- From the Project Home Page or Tasks page, choose the Enter Billing link with the correct draw number. The link name will change depending on your workflow step.
If the period has previously been rejected, the link will read Re-enter Progress Claim.
- Choose a line to bill against. Your total lines may be pre-filled with your Subcontractor invoice amounts based on your project settings. You can select a cell to overwrite the amount.
- Enter a dollar amount in the Work This Period column for each line item.
- Optional. To bill based on percentage, update the % Complete column. The Work This Period field shows the dollar amount. Note: If you are using Unit Price Billing, see Billing by Units to enter a progress claim using unit amounts instead of dollar amounts.
- Optional. Enter the dollar amount of material stored between the draw Period From and Period To dates in the Material Stored This Period field.
- Review the value in the Net This Period.
- (Optional) Add comments to a line for later review or as a message to an on-system user.
- From the Description of Work column, select the Comment icon for a line item.
A Comments and History dialog box displays. - In the Comment text box, enter text.
- Select OK.
The dialog box closes and the Comment icon is shaded blue to indicate that a comment is associated with the invoice line.
- From the Description of Work column, select the Comment icon for a line item.
- (Optional) Set invoice codes.
- From the Table View, select Standard + Codes.
- For each line item select the appropriate codes.
- Select Save & Continue to move to the next tab in your Billing Workflow.
Tips:
- Use the Up arrow, Down arrow keys on your keyboard to move between fields.
- The Revert button discards changes and returns the invoice to the last saved version.
- The Save button saves your work without proceeding to the next tab in the workflow.
- Error messages are displayed on the top of the page, select the Display only rows with errors button to view the cells with errors highlighted in red.
- Review imported variations before submitting a client claim. Select the View subcontract list link on the Progress tab to review unapproved or unmapped variations. See Mapping Imported Subcontract Variations.
