Creating a Notary Variable in Documents

Editors can create a notary variable to require electronic notarization of a document.

To add a notary variable while creating a document template:

  1. Navigate to the Document Editor.
    1. From the Tools Header Menu, click Documents.

      The Document Library displays.

    2. Click New Template.

      The Document Properties page displays.

    3. Select properties for the document template and click Update.

      The Document Editor displays.

  2. Enter text for the title and body of the document template.

  3. Move your cursor to the area of the document template where you want a signature notarized and click.
  4. Select the Variable Plugin icon.

    The Variable Library opens in a drawer on the left side of the page.

  5. From the Variable Library drawer, click the Signer tab.
  6. Select the Signing Date variable.

    A Signing Date Drawer opens on the right of the page.

  7. (Optional) From the Signing Date drawer, select a Font Family and Font Size.
  8. Select a date format.
  9. Click Insert.

    The Signing Date drawer closes and the Variable Pill for the Signing Date standard variable displays in the document template.

  10. From the Signer Tab of the Variable Library drawer, select Signer Signature.

    The Variable Pill for the Signing Date standard variable displays in the document template.

  11. (Optional) From the Signer Tab of the Variable Library drawer, add additional Signer variables.
  12. Click the Notary tab.
  13. Select the following standard Notary variables:
    • Notary Signature
    • Notary Name
    • Notary State
    • Notary Certificate Number.

    Each Variable Pill displays in the document template. The location of the Variable Pill determines where this information displays in documents using this template.

  14. (Optional) Select the Notary Seal or DAN (Colorado Clients) Notary variables if your state requires this information.
