Importing and Exporting Financials

EnterpriseTrack allows you to import and export financial data from and to Microsoft Office Excel (MS Excel). This functionality is meant for users who want to update their financial data in MS Excel. You must first export the EnterpriseTrack framework of your financial information to MS Excel. You will then enter your data and keep track of your metrics date in MS Excel. When you are ready to bring all your financial data into EnterpriseTrack you can use the Import feature on the Project Financials page.

Note: If you use the import/export feature for your financials, the financial information within EnterpriseTrack will be displayed in read-only format.

A series of steps have to be completed in sequence before you can import financial data into the system. You can follow the steps outlined on the Export Financials page. These steps are further explained below.

Installing the plug-in

Before you begin, you must install the EnterpriseTrack plug-in for Microsoft Project. This has to be done only once per client machine.

  1. Navigate to the Project Import/Export page by selecting Project Module Menu (Project #) > Go To > Import/Export, or clicking the Import/Export link within the context of a project.
  2. Click the Show button next to Downloads. Select the Download EnterpriseTrack(TM) Plug-in for Microsoft® MS Project® Connector link and save the file to your local drive.
  3. Run the .exe file. This will install the plug-in on your machine. When you launch MS Project, you will see an Oracle Instantis EnterpriseTrack sub-menu under the Tools menu.

  2. On the Export Financials page, locate the Financials Data File link.
  3. Right click on the link and select Save Target As from the menu.
  4. Save the file to a directory. Oracle recommends that give the file a meaningful name, E.g., financialinfo_projectname.xml
  5. Launch MS Excel on your machine. You should have installed the plug-in.
  6. In MS Excel select the Import financials from EnterpriseTrack option from the Tools menu.
  7. A dialog box will ask you to locate the file to be imported.
  8. Browse to your template file (E.g., financialinfo_projectname.xml) and import it.
  9. You can now update your financial data in MS Excel.
