A project’s roadmap or project plan is made up of one or more activities. Depending on how the project plan is setup, the roadmap may have phases and tasks under phases. Standardized project plans or roadmaps are created and managed by administrators. Only users with appropriate permissions can add new phases or tasks to a roadmap. If the administrator has configured the roadmap with the setting that does not allow any changes to the predefined activities, then users cannot make changes to the list of activities at the project level.
The properties pane, in the lower half of the page, displays additional information associated with each phase or task. The tabs displayed in the properties pane depend on how the selected activity is configured.
- General Tab: The General tab is the default tab which displays key information about the activity (e.g. Activity Name, Sequence Number and other fields). Depending on how the system has been configured not all available fields may be visible for all activities. In addition to predefined fields, administrators may setup custom fields which will be displayed on the general tab.
- Dates Tab: Displays Initial Plan, Current Plan and Actual Dates. Users with modify activity permission can update current plan and actual dates on this tab. Initial Plan Date can only be altered by users with Modify Initial Plan Date permission.
- Finances Tab: Displays the costs tracked for each activity. You can enter the Actual Effort performed by a resource on an activity. You can also view or edit the overtime and setup costs associated with an individual resource or an activity.
- Resource Tab: Resource tab displays the assigned resource(s) to the activity.
- Approvals Tab: If a user needs to approve an activity, it is displayed in this tab. Approvals for Tollgates are displayed in this tab. Users with the right permission can initiate approval requests. Approvers can then review the activity and other prerequisites and grant or deny approval. Tollgate can only be closed after all outstanding approvals have been granted.
- Documents Tab: You can attach documents to the activity using this tab.
- Status Indicator Tab: Displays the status indicators associated with an activity. These indicators are set up by your administrator.
- Dependencies Tab: You can view and specify the inter and intra project dependencies. You can also specify the type of dependency associated with a project phase.
