Quote Option
The Quote button allows a user to run an activity virtually to see the outcome of the activity without having to process it. When Quote is clicked, the Activity Results in Quote mode will display and the user can click the links at the top of the screen to see the results of each aspect of the activity before it is actually processed. Activities can be added from this Quote window if needed.
If an activity is not configured to support quoting, then the Quote button will not be visible. Security also determines whether the Quote button displays. Only users with security privileges to use quoting will see the Quote button.
Steps to Process an Activity Virtually Using the Quote Button
-
Open the policy.
- Click Add Activity on the Action list below the Entity Navigation list.
-
Select the activity from the Activity drop down box. The Quote button should appear at the bottom of the screen next to OK and Cancel.
-
Enter the activity details and click Quote. The Activity Results screen in Quote mode will open providing a virtual view of all aspects of the activity via the links.
- Close the Quote details and return to the Add Activity window.
-
Click OK to add the activity to the Activity screen in pending status or click Cancel to close the activity window without saving any results.
Business Errors
If a business error occurs when an activity is in quote mode, then an Error screen will display all applicable errors (in read-only mode). A Cancel button or an OK and Cancel button combination are provided to close the window, depending on configuration. Clicking the Cancel button will navigate the user back to the Add Activity window. Clicking the OK button will navigate the user on to the Quote screen for the activity. The user will be able to preview the activity results in the links at the top of the window, but only those results which occurred prior to the business error. If results are not available for any of the items, then appropriate message(s) will be displayed instead.
Add Activity From Quote Screen
An Add New Activity link may be available at the top of the Activity Results screen in Quote mode. A user will be able to add a new activity from a select set of activities and pass fields and math variables from the original activity to the new activity. This link is visible only when it is present in the screen configuration and when a user has the proper security privileges to access it.
Steps to Add Activity From Quote Screen
- Select an activity from the Add Activity link on the Action list that is configured to support quoting.
A prototype exists in the Prototype Company | Functional Prototype Plan called QuoteWithdrawal. You can use this as an example.
- Enter the activity details and click the Quote button. If the QuoteWithdrawal activity was selected and the withdrawal amount is greater than the available policy funds, then an error message will appear saying that the policy does not have enough funds. Click OK to bypass the error and open the Activity Result screen in Quote mode.
- Click the Add New Activity link at the top of the Activity Result screen in Quote mode. A list of activities that can be added will display.
- Select the activity from the Activity drop down list and click Select.
-
Any non-empty fields and math variable values that are being passed in the QuoteScreen business rule from the original activity will pre-fill corresponding Entry Fields in the new Activity Details screen. Collections, Arrays, Object math variables and other such complex Math types are excluded.
-
Fill-in any entry fields that aren't pre-filled, and/or allocations or suspense information. The Activity Effective Date may be passed from the original activity or entered manually.
- There are two options from this point:
- Click OK Navigate to add the activity and go directly to the Activity screen for processing. Click the process icon to the right of the activity to process the activity.
- Click OK to add the activity and go back to the Activity Result screen in Quote mode. All entered information for the new activity will be saved. You will need to go to the Activity screen to process the newly added activity.
