Description of the illustration ostmg001.eps

This is an illustration of a clustered Oracle ASM configuration with Oracle Real Application Clusters (Oracle RAC) and a single-instance Oracle Database. The illustration shows multiple Oracle Database instances and multiple Oracle ASM instances. At the top of the illustration, there are two Oracle RAC databases and one single-instance Oracle Database. The first Oracle RAC database has two instances as does the second Oracle RAC database. On the right is a single-instance Oracle database. Below these are five Oracle ASM instances, one for each database. The five Oracle ASM instances are clustered Oracle ASM instances, that is, they interoperate to serve all five of the Oracle Databases.

All of the databases share access to an Oracle ASM clustered pool of storage that appears at the bottom of the diagram. The clustered storage pool has two disk groups, disk group A and disk group B. Disk group A has four disks and disk group B has two disks.
