What is a BI Designer Object?

A BI Designer object is the container for the business intelligence objects (BI Beans objects) that are created in the JDeveloper environment. This container is used only during design (not at runtime).

In JDeveloper, a BI Beans project must include at least one BI Designer object. The BI Designer enables you to design BI Beans objects visually, create queries, view data, and save objects in XML.

Specifies the local Catalog and the OLAP data source

Each BI Designer object has its own root definitions folder (called the local Catalog) and identifies the OLAP data source for the objects that the BI Designer will contain.

Creates BI Beans configuration file

When you create a BI Designer object, a BI Beans configuration file is created automatically. This file contains application settings for runtime.
