Building a BI Beans Application in JDeveloper

To build a BI Beans application in JDeveloper, create the objects that you want to use in the application (such as crosstabs, graphs, or calculations) and then construct the kind of application that is to use the objects.

Use the following steps to build a BI Beans application in JDeveloper:

  1. Create a BI Designer object to serve as a local container for all of the business intelligence objects that you create.

  2. Create presentations.

  3. Edit the presentations.

  4. Generate a BI Beans application that uses the objects that you defined.

  5. Enter custom code in the Code Editor as needed.

  6. Build the application and test it.

  7. When you are finished developing your project, copy your object definitions from your local catalog to the BI Beans Catalog for production.

  8. Establish security for the application.

  9. Deploy the application.

Note: To load existing objects from a BI Beans Catalog to the local catalog of a BI Designer object, use the Copy Objects from Remote Catalog wizard.
