For default connections from BI Beans applications, you use Database Access Descriptor (DAD) files. Each file, named with a dad
extension, must specify a user name and password for a database schema. As the application developer, you must ensure that the DAD files are stored in a secure location and that they contain the appropriate information.
This database connectivity information specifies how to connect to an OLAP data source and to the BI Beans Catalog. This information is read by the default pluggable connection drivers, not by any core BI Beans technology. You specify the names of the DAD files in the BI Beans configuration file.
BI Beans ships with two default DAD files, as described in the following list:
project-namebiconfigintolap.dad
for
connections to the OLAP data source
project-namebiconfigintcatalog.dad
for connections to the BI Beans Catalog
where project-name is the project name and int is an integer.
You can choose to use your own DAD files and can use only one file for both types of connections.
The following example shows the contents of a typical DAD file.
