A crosstab presents data in rows, columns, and pages. It is an analysis tool that is used to view and to manipulate data so that you can easily see different aspects of the data. Common operations in a crosstab are:
Rotating, or pivoting, the data -- For example, to compare sales of two products in different regions, you can place the product dimension and the geography dimension on the column edge of the crosstab, making the comparison easier to see.
Drilling the data -- In hierarchical data, you can drill down to more detail, or drill up for a summary view of the data
BI Beans includes a Java-client crosstab and an HTML-client crosstab. When you use the
Java-client crosstab, you work with the oracle.dss.crosstab.Crosstab
class and
with the crosstab components. When you use an HTML-client crosstab, you work with the
oracle.dss.thin.beans.crosstab.ThinCrosstab
class and with the crosstab
components.
