Creating a BI Designer Object

In JDeveloper, the BI Designer object contains information (such as the database connection and the location of the local Catalog that stores the definitions of your BI objects) that is needed for the design of the other business intelligence objects. The BI Beans configuration file is automatically created in JDeveloper when you create a BI Designer.

Procedure: Creating a BI Designer

To create a BI Designer:

  1. Create a new workspace and an empty project, if you have not already created these objects.

  2. In the System - Navigator, right-click the project and select New.

  3. In the New dialog box, under Categories, select Business Intelligence, then double-click Designer. This initiates the BI Designer wizard.

  4. Complete the steps of the BI Designer wizard.

Notes:  During design, you can load objects from the BI Beans Catalog to the local Catalog of a BI Designer object. After your project is completed and tested, save objects from the local Catalog to the BI Beans Catalog for production.
