Each BI Designer
object has a local Catalog in which you store
objects during development. When the design of your project is complete, save
your objects by copying them from any local Catalog in your project to a remote
BI Beans Catalog for production. The BI Beans Catalog provides a persistent
database for storing objects, flexible search capability for locating objects,
and the option of controlling (that is, scoping) user access to folders.
You should store BI objects in your local Catalog in the same structure that you want them to be stored in the remote Catalog. When your selected folders and objects are copied to a remote Catalog, the wizard preserves the hierarchical folder structure that exists in your local Catalog. If you have not stored your objects in folders in the local Catalog, then the objects will be copied to the root folder in the remote Catalog.
To copy objects from a local Catalog to a remote BI Beans Catalog:
In the System Navigator, right-click the BI Designer
object
that references the desired Catalog.
From the popup menu, select Copy Objects to Remote Catalog to invoke the appropriate wizard.
Complete the steps of the wizard and choose Finish. When the wizard completes the copy operation, it displays a summary of the objects that were copied.
Note: In the Select Folders and Objects panel of this wizard, you can specify that you want to update the runtime configuration file of your application to use the BI Beans Catalog that you reference for the copy operation. If you select this option, then both the BI Beans configuration file and the Run Settings tab of the BI Beans Settings dialog box are updated with the current Catalog.
