Use the Group Axis Panel to specify options for the group axis on your graph. The group axis is the X-axis of a graph. It usually represents a dimension and has dimension members along it, such as January 2000, February 2000, and so on.
From this panel, you can specify the display of the labels along the axis. For example, you can specify whether to skip labels and whether to rotate them. It is usually better, however, to accept the default values for these options. The graph automatically rotates or skips labels for readability. If you set options such as no rotation, then you limit the strategies that the graph can use to place the labels.
Show X-Axis title box -- Specifies whether to show the title for the group axis.
Insert box -- Specifies variables for the title of group axis, such as Dimension, Member or DimensionMember. The graph resolves the variables and displays appropiate text. For example, if you insert "Dimension," then the title displays the name of the current dimension for the axis, even if the layout of the graph changes. The Dimension Member option displays the name of the dimension, followed by the name of the member.
Font button-- Displays the Font dialog box, where you specify font attributes for the axis title.
X-Axis title box -- Specifies the title of the group axis. You can type custom text or use variables that are provided by the Insert box.
Line thickness box -- Specifies a thickness for the line of the group axis.
Line color box -- Specifies a color for the line of the group axis.
Show labels for all tick marks on the axis option-- Select this item to display labels for all items on this axis. You can choose the X-Axis Label Font button to set the rotation for the tick labels.
Show labels for some tick marks on the axis option -- Select to display only some of the labels, according to the specifications of the following two components.
Automatically skip labels to fit option -- Select this option to have the graph automatically calculate how the tick labels will fit along the axis and to skip enough that the remaining labels are readable.
Start with tick mark option and box -- If you select this option, set the number of the first tick label to display, and set the tick marks to skip option as well. The first label is label number 1.
Tick marks to skip between labels box -- Specifies the number of labels to skip between the ones that the graph displays.
Note: If you set skipping so that the first label you want to show is a higher number than the number you want to skip, a label may appear before the first one that you want. For example, if you set 4 as the first label to display, but you set the number of marks to skip to 2, the first label appears.
X-Axis Labels Font dialog box -- Displays the Font dialog box, where you specify font attributes for the axis labels. The Font dialog box allows you to rotate tick labels.
