Specifying Data in the XML for a Graph

You can store the data for a graph in the graph XML. You edit the XML file, adding a local data element. When the graph reads the XML, it creates a local data source and sets this data source in the DataSource property of the graph.

As you edit the XML file, be careful to maintain the validity of the XML. The topic Saving XML for a Graph includes information about validating the graph structure. The Document Type Definition for the graph is in the oracle.dss.graph package in the JAR file that contains the graph.

Structure of the data

You can specify the data in the XML in a grid-like structure or in a relational structure. In either case, the data is stored in a grid in the local data source that the graph constructs from the XML.

Both elements for specifying data require you to specify row and column labels for the grid structure of the local data source.
