The Calculation Type panel accepts input for the following items for a percent markup calculation:
Percent markup of -- Click the drop down arrow and select an item from the list. This item represents a newer quantity from which an older quantity will be subtracted.
From -- Click the drop down arrow and select an item from the list. This item represents an older quantity that will be subtracted from a newer quantity. The older quantity becomes the basis for calculating the percent.
Number Format -- Select one of the default number formats to use for this calculation or choose Options to specify another format.
Options -- Displays the Number Format dialog, in which you can specify a format for the calculation.
This type of calculation applies to measures only.
The formula for this calculation is:
(y-x)/x
This formula is used to calculate the percent change between two items where the basis for the calculation is the older item.
An example of this calculation is:
Percent Markup = (New Price-Old Price)/Old Price
Suppose that the new price is 110 and the old price is 100, which is calculated as follows:
110-100/100 = +10%
The percent markup is +10%, relative to the old price of 100.
