Defining Lines

Use this task to specify and format relationship lines, customize connection details for all visible activities, external relationship lines, and filtered activities, format data date lines, and show lines to identify all bars drawn for each activity.

Before you begin this task, open the Layout Options page as described in one of the following tasks:

It is from the context of those tasks that you click the Lines tab to define relationship lines, connections, data date lines, horizontal lines, and activity group lines.

When you finish the following task, resume at the step in the applicable previous task where you left off.

To define lines for the layout:

  1. On the Lines tab of the Layout Options page:
    1. On the Relationships tab, select Show Relationship lines if you want relationship lines in the layout. If you select that option, do the following:
      • Select All Relationships if you want all relationships shown in the layout.
      • Select Driving Relationships Only to show only driving relationships in the layout.
      1. If you selected the All Relationships options and want to customize the appearance of non-driving, non-critical lines, complete the styling options for Non driving, non critical.
      2. If you want to customize driving, non critical lines, complete the styling options for Driving, non critical.
      3. If you want to customize critical lines, complete the styling options for Critical.
      4. In the Line Drawing Style list, select the style you want to use for relationship lines. If you select Rounded or Curves, you can specify a corner radius.
      5. Select Use Quick Routing if you want to show the quickest relationship between activities when creating a TSLD layout.

Note: Using quick routing will not be as cautious and might draw more lines through bars. The placement of bars and lines is faster but it might not be as clean.

    2. On the Connections tab:
      1. Select Show connection details for all visible activities, Show external relationships, and/or Show filtered activities.
      2. In the Fields area, select to show or hide Project ID, Activity ID, lag, relationship type, to hide Project ID for internal relationships between activities in the same project, and to hide zero lag.
      3. In the Shape, Border, and Fonts areas, you can customize the appearance of the lines and border around the fields data. Select Display relationship line inside the shape to show relationship lines inside the shape. You can only configure lines when all visible activities is selected. To hide the border, set the border thickness to zero.
    3. On the Data Date tab, select Show Data Date line if you want to show a data date line in the layout. If you select this option, you can customize the appearance of the data date line.

Note: If you have multiple projects open, the earliest data date of all selected projects will be drawn.

    4. On the Activity Group tab:
      1. Select Show border for activity groupings if you want to show a border to identify all bars drawn for each activity. If you select this option, you can customize the appearance of the border.
      2. If you select to show borders, then you can choose to draw borders Around bars or Around bars and labels.
