Defining Page Setup

Use this task to enter values that affect page setup for printed output, including information for the title block.

Before you begin this task, open the Layout Options page as described in one of the following tasks:

It is from the context of those tasks that you click the Page Setup tab to define page options, title block, and spacing. When you finish the following task, resume at the step in the applicable previous task where you left off.

To define page setup for the layout:

  1. Click the Page Setup tab of the Layout Options page:
  2. On the Page tab:
    1. In the Scaling area, select either Number of Horizontal Sheets or Resolution (inches/day).
      • If you select Number of Horizontal Sheets, enter or select the number of horizontal pages on which to print the timescale in the field. This will always stretch the Timescale to exactly fit those number of pages.
      • In you select Resolution (inches/day), enter or select the resolution in inches/day in the field.

Note: These settings only affect the Timescale, not the Grid.

    2. In the Paper area,
      • In the Paper Size list, select the size of paper on which you want your job to print, or choose Custom.
      • In the Width and Height fields, enter or select height and width, in inches, of the paper selected for printing. If you choose a defined paper size, these fields are read-only.
      • Select Portrait if you want the printed image taller than it is wide or select Landscape if you want the printed image wider than it is tall, relative to the direction of the long and short edges of the paper.
      • Select Show page breaks if you want page breaks visible in the Diagram page. If not used, page breaks are honored in the report but are not visible on screen except when using print preview. You can only show page breaks when creating a TSLD.
    3. In the Margins area,
      • In the Top field, enter or select the margin size for the top of the page.
      • In the Bottom field, enter or select the margin size for the bottom of the page.
      • In the Left field, enter or select the margin size for the left side of the page.
      • In the Right field, enter or select the margin size for the right side of the page.
  3. On the Title Block tab:
    1. In the Show Header On or Show Footer On list, select the page or pages on which the legend appears.
    2. Customize a header and footer for the layout. You can customize the font, alignment, add images, tables, variables, add, delete, and resize sections.

      Notes:

      • To add a variable, you must select the variable from this list, then click the Add icon. You cannot edit, copy, or paste variables on the editor. To delete a variable, you must select the entire variable in the editor, including the start and close brackets, for example, {Project Start}.
      • Variable entries in the Variable list are translated. However, variables displayed in the configuration area are always in English.
  4. On the Spacing tab:
    1. In the Maximum rows to move an activity above a related activity field, enter or select the maximum number of rows you would like related activities to be positioned from each other. You cannot specify the maximum number of rows when creating a Gantt chart since activities are always placed in their own row.
    2. In the Line spacing field, enter or select a size to specify the space between activity rows.
