Verification Details
An activity can be verified before it is processed to make sure that the action the activity will initiate can be accomplished without business errors.
A Verify button is used to launch the verification process. When the Verify button is clicked, the activity will process virtually and the resulting information is provided for the user. Only activities that are configured to support verification will display a Verify button. Users must also have security privileges for the Verify button in order for it to display.
Configuration determines the sections that will display on the Verification screen once the Verify button is clicked. There are the possible sections: verification, allocations and errors.
- Verification section: This section contains messages to the user about the fields and math variables in the activity and whether or not the activity is validated.
- Allocations section: This section contains allocation information and can be configured to display a preview of original allocations and/or final allocations.
- Error section: This section contains a grid that displays an error number (number assigned to the specific error), error (error message), error fix (taken from the Error Catalog to provide helpful information regarding how to resolve the error) and an Overridable column (whether the error can be overridden or not).
- Warning section: This screen section contains a grid presenting error number, error (error message), and error fix. Some errors are not intended to halt processing but rather to provide the user with information relevant to the process. By their nature, these types of errors have been defined as warnings.
Steps to Verify an Activity
-
Open a policy.
- Click Add Activity on the Action list below the Entity Navigation list.
-
Select the activity from the Activity drop down box.
A prototype activity is provided in the Prototype Company | Functional Prototype Plan as an example of this functionality. It is called VerifyPremium.
-
Enter the activity details for each of the links in the Add Activity window, then click Verify. The Verification screen will open. Review the sections displayed to determine if the activity will successfully process.
Important: If the transaction is configured to use the Verification functionality, the configured messages and applicable error messages will appear beneath the expanded row of the activity.
- Close the Verify screen and return to the Add Activity window.
-
Click OK to add the activity to the Activity screen in pending status.
In addition to the 'configured tabs' (Allocations, Suspense, etc) if the activity has Error/Warnings, Comments or Requirements those items will be accessible via a tab on the Pending activity detail. The user can navigate to these particular screens by clicking on the appropriate icon in that activity's row on activity table. These icons, when the row is selected will be expanded to display the pending activity, defaulting to the corresponding tab. (for example, if a user clicks on the requirements icon the row will be expanded, the focus will be on the Requirements tab).
