Registering Views

In the event that a new view is required, making that view available to end-users requires a few separate steps. For information on the actual creation of Views, such as the layout or content, see Configuring Siebel Business Applications. Only after defining the view and releasing it to the runtime repository will you be concerned with registering the view for use.

After designing, configuring, and testing the new view, navigate to the Site Map, Administration - Application, and then Views. Create a new record using the same name as that used when defining the view in the Siebel Runtime Repository. The only option required is whether or not that view should be made available to Siebel Mobile users, as indicated by the Local DB checkbox. This concept is explained in the Siebel Bookshelf. As a simple rule of thumb, a view that could expose a lot of data, such as an All Opportunities View, should not be made available to remote users for performance reasons.

Note: Registering the view in the Siebel CRM application makes it available to be assigned to users, but will not actually make it visible to them. For more information, see About Responsibilities.
