Integrating with Email Server Products

Sending outbound email messages and receiving inbound email messages using Siebel Communications Server requires that you integrate your email server products. You must configure profiles for the Internet SMTP/IMAP Server driver or the Internet SMTP/POP3 Server driver by using the parameters described in the table in the topic Parameters for Internet SMTP/IMAP Server Driver and Internet SMTP/POP3 Server Driver. For information about support for third-party products, see Supported Email Sender Software and Email Servers.

Note: After an outbound email message is sent to the email server, the Communications Outbound Manager server component might indicate in the log file that the email is successfully sent. However, the log file cannot indicate whether the email is sent to a valid email address. If the email server subsequently fails to deliver the message, then a nondelivery report is sent from the email server to the sending mailbox.

Client-side email integration with Microsoft Outlook, an option for the Send Email command, does not use Siebel Communications Server. For more information, see Configuring Client-Side Integration for Send Email Command.
