Understanding Mobile Application Framework Support for PeopleSoft
PeopleTools provides support for customers who want to incorporate Oracle Mobile Application Framework (MAF) for their PeopleSoft Fluid or MAP deployments.
This documentation describes how to locate the elements and information required for using this option.
You can use Oracle MAF as described in the Mobile Application Framework and PeopleSoft license agreements. Using MAF is an option for deploying PeopleSoft Fluid User Interface applications or applications built with PeopleSoft Mobile Application Framework to mobile devices (smartphones and tablets).
Note: MAF is not required for deploying PeopleSoft applications to mobile devices. It is an option some customers may choose to pursue.
PeopleTools provides a restricted use of the Mobile Application Framework, which enables you to use only the Remote URL option for running PeopleSoft applications in the MAF container on the mobile device. An additional MAF license is required if you intend to use other MAF features or create new data controls.
This list outlines the main steps you need to complete to implement the MAF deployment option for PeopleSoft applications:
Download the version of MAF provided in the PeopleTools Media Pack.
Download the mobile application archive (.maa) provided with PeopleTools.
Import the delivered mobile application archive into your IDE (integrated development environment) and modify as needed. JDeveloper is the recommended IDE. Eclipse may also be used, but see the note below.
Deploy the application for end user download. For internal usage, deploy the application to your site’s application repository. For external usage, deploy the application to Apple App Store or Google Play Store.
Note: Currently Oracle delivers the PeopleSoft mobile application archive (.maa) for JDeveloper. Eclipse may also be used, but you need to install Oracle Enterprise Pack for Eclipse (OEPE) and build the .maa manually.
