Understanding PSADMUTIL

The PSADMUTIL utility runs outside of PSADMIN for the purposes of:

• preloading file or database cache.

• purging database cache.

Preload cache projects as well as stored file and database cache repositories can be very large. Because of this, it is not advantageous to have caching operations subject to Tuxedo timeout limits. PeopleTools uses PSADMUTIL so that the operations it handles run independently of PSADMIN and Tuxedo.

When running the preload cache or purge cache options from PSADMIN, the PSADMIN utility calls PSADMUTIL to perform these operations.

The PSADMUTIL utility can also be invoked outside of PSADMIN from the command line.
