Simphony stores the encryption keys used to encrypt and decrypt secure data, such as credit card numbers, in the database. The encryption keys themselves are encrypted using a master key that was generated on the fly based upon on an encrypted pass phrase stored in a separate database.
Simphony uses a new encryption scheme that allows for the secure deletion of encryption keys.
