Viewing Kibana Workforce Equity Analytics

Administrators can use the Workforce Equity dashboard to evaluate workforce equity data. Based on their user privileges and criteria, like gender and ethnicity, administrators can analyze diversity and compensation for the entire workforce or for a subset of the organization.

PeopleSoft Workforce Equity dashboard is a dashboard built on Kibana, the data visualization tool used by Elasticsearch. This dashboard is built on workforce equity data and uses search index HC_HR_WF_DIVERSITY.

Review Kibana visualizations related to workforce equity.

Before administrators can access the Workforce Equity data in Kibana, the following steps should be performed:

  1. Deploy the HC_HR_WF_DIVERSITY (Workforce Diversity) index.

    (PeopleTools > Search Framework > Search Admin Activity Guide > Administration > Deploy/Delete Object)

  2. Build the HC_HR_WF_DIVERSITY search index.

    (PeopleTools > Search Framework > Search Admin Activity Guide > Administration > Schedule Search Index)

  3. Deploy the Workforce Equity Tile and Workforce Equity dashboard.

    (PeopleTools > Search Framework > Administration > Deploy Kibana Dashboards))

    Note: The full index must be run before the dashboard can be deployed

  4. Assign the HR Analytics Administrator role to users that should be granted access the Workforce Equity dashboard.

Important! You must use PeopleTools 8.58 or higher and have Elasticsearch and Kibana installed to use this functionality.

Use the Workforce Equity tile to access and view Kibana HR workforce equity analytics that are based on diversity and compensation. For example, view employee data by job code, gender, ethnic group, compa-ratio information, and country.

Click this tile to access the Kibana Visualizer - Workforce Equity Dashboard and analyze visualizations related to diversity and compensation information for your workforce.

The Workforce Equity dashboard in Kibana provides you with different visualizations to analyze workforce equity data. When you select filters or chart items, Kibana dynamically updates all visualizations using the sources from the index.

The dashboard uses role level security to display permitted data to the user.

Common Elements and Controls

Note: Filtering options apply to all visualizations, which allows administrators to drill down on all the charts at once.

The link appears only for users with role Search Administrator and is not available for users that have the HR Analytics Administrator role only.

Enter criteria to filter data on the visualization. You can add filters manually, click a chart item to add filters, or use the filter options in the Employee Details grid to add or exclude items. For example, when you click a chart the filter is automatically added to your filters list. If you click the bar chart item for females between the ages of 18 and 24, the system will prompt you to add the AGE_DESCR_ORCL_ES_ENG:18–24 and GENDER_DESCR_ORCL_ES_NA_ENG: Female filters since this item consists of more than one filter.

Click the Filters link by the search field to hide or show a list of filters that have been applied to the analytics.

Click the Change all filters gear icon, + Add filter link, or click a specific filter for more options on adding and filtering your criteria.

Click a filter item to view additional options.

The date fields are not applicable to the Workforce Equity dashboard.

Each visualization enables you to inspect the chart, table or map to view the details of that visualization. Pause over a visualization to have the following items appear.

Pause over the Options icon to select one of these options:

  • Inspect: Select this option to have a slide out page appear providing the details in a grid format. You can also download data from this page.

  • Full screen or Minimize: Select Full screen to have the page display only this visualization in full screen. Select Options, Minimize to return to the Workforce Equity dashboard in Kibana and display all visualizations.
Legend icon Legend icon

Click this icon to hide or display the legend for the chart. The legend displays by default.

Chart item (bar, pie slice, and so forth)

Pause over a chart item, such as a bar item or pie slice, to view a summary of details for that item.

Delivered Workforce Equity Visualization Charts for Kibana

The Workforce Equity dashboard provides this collection of visualizations:

Field or Control

Employees by Ethnic Group

This donut chart visualization displays the number and percentage of employees that are included in an ethnic group. The chart displays the top 30 ethnic groups (based on count). Employees that indicate more than one ethnicity will appear in a Two or More group.

Employees by Gender

This visualization displays a count of males, females, and others (those with undefined genders).

Compa-Ratio by Age and Gender (comparison ratio by age and gender)

This horizontal bar graph visualization displays the average compa-ratio calculation by age groups and then grouped by male and female within those categories. Compa-ratio allows you to see where workers' salaries lie in relation to the midpoint range for their salary grades.

Age groups include:

  • 18–24

  • 25–34

  • 35–44

  • 45–54

  • 55–64

  • 65+

Note: The system calculates the ratio by comparing the worker salary to the midpoint amount of the salary grade. If the worker's current rate is the same as the midpoint, then the compa-ratio is 1.00, or 100 percent, of the midpoint. If the rate is above or below the midpoint, the system calculates a ratio for the difference between the salary and the midpoint, and then it adds or subtracts the difference from 1.00. If there is no defined midpoint, the compa-ratio will be 0.

The system then averages all the compa-ratios for employee’s within a group, and displays that number on the chart.
Compa-Ratio by Department (comparison ratio by department)

This vertical bar graph visualization displays the average compa-ratio calculation by department. The chart displays the top 15 departments (based on highest compa-ratio values) at a time. The Other department item contains information for all others departments that were not included in top 15 departments. Select the Other department bar item to display the next 15 departments in the list.

Employees by Job Code

This pie chart visualization displays the count and percentage of employees assigned to a job code. The chart displays the top 20 job codes (based on employee count) and the percentages are based on the job codes that appear in the chart. Select the Other job code item to display the next 20 job codes in the list.
Employee Distribution by Country

This map visualization displays a map of where employees are located world-wide.

Employee Details

This grid provides a summary of all visualization data based on the selected filters.

The Employee Details grid enables you to perform the following actions.

Click this icon to removed this column from the grid display. This will not change the filters for all the visualizations on this dashboard.

Click and arrow to move the column one space to the left or right.

Expand employee details arrow Expand employee data arrow

Click this arrow next to an employee’s name to expand and view the employment details for this individual.
Filter for value and Filter out value icons Filter for value and Filter out value icons

These icons appear when you pause next to a field value. These icons are available for all columns in the grid.

Click the Filter for value (+ magnify glass) icon to add the shown field value as a filter to all visualizations. For example, if you click to filter for the Male Gender value, all visualizations will refresh to show data for the male population.

Click the Filter out value (- magnify glass) icon to remove the shown field value from the filter process for all visualizations. For example, if you click to filter out the Human Resources Department value, visualizations will refresh to show data that does not employees in the Human Resources department.
