About Policy Types

You can control the general policy rules for all policy types. See: Custom Policy Rules Other password rules are determined by the policy type:

Simple: Each user is required to create a password that conforms to a set of rules designed to create a password of medium strength.
Standard: Each user is required to create a password that conforms to a set of rules designed to create a strong password.
Custom: Each user is required to create a password that conforms to a custom set of rules. See Custom Policy Rules for details.
