Propose features an error checking mechanism that notifies you when data has been entered incorrectly, while not preventing you from submitting the form and proceeding with your work.
The following error indications exist in Propose:
- Tool Tips: Errors related to data entry are indicated in the forms. The system underlines the names of components that contain errors with red wavy lines. Place your mouse pointer over error indications to view a tool tip describing the errors.
A list of the error types that are indicated follows:
- Tab errors: when one or more errors exist in a form, a wavy line appears underneath the names of tabs that contain the errors. The wavy line is colored beige when it is located under a currently displayed tab, and red when it is located under a tab that is not currently displayed.
- Required fields errors: when data has not been filled for a required field (marked with an asterisk), a red wavy line appears under the field’s name.
- Data entry field errors: when data has been entered incorrectly into a data entry field, a red wavy line appears underneath the label of the data entry field or cell.
- Table/List cell errors: when data has been entered incorrectly into a cell in a table or a list, a red wavy line appears underneath the value in the cell.
- Phases status errors: when you select the Current Phase status for more than one phase in a Phases List, a red wavy line appears under the selected Phase Status.
- Date errors: when you specify end dates that are earlier than the existing start dates, a red wavy line appears under the label of the field.
- Warning Messages: When you submit a Propose form that contains errors, a warning message appears detailing the error(s). Only fields without errors will be submitted.
