Types of XML Rules

The term Business Rules is a generic name used when discussing any of the following rules. Refer to the Business Rules section of this help system for details on each of these types of rules.

    • Attached Rules:  These rules are attached to transactions and provide the transaction with additional processing options.

    • Calculate Rules:  These rules perform policy and segment calculations.

    • CopyBook Rules:  These rules store reusable configuration for use in other rules, transactions and across all configured plans.

    • Function Rules:  These rules are reusable logic or calculations.

    • Plan Rules:  These rules are used to define a plan prior to establishing a policy.

    • Screen Rules:  These rules are associated with screens that are available in the application.

    • System Rules:  These rules control system processing.

  • Transaction Rules are configured to be business events that end users (most likely Customer Service Representatives) need to process when an event occurs that affects a policy. Transactions become activities in OIPA.

  • Segment Rules contain information about the base policy as well as additional riders or features of the policy. Segment rules are used to configure segments for each plan.
