What's New - Primavera Unifier Essentials 22.12
December 2022
Previous Releases: 22.11, 22.10, 22.9, 22.8, 22.7, 22.6
User-Defined Reports
Cash Flow - Undistributed Cost User-Defined Report
Added new user-defined reports which display undistributed amounts in all project cash flow curves. These reports are available within an organization-level single-instance shell, the Oracle Project Template, and as a standalone Company-level UDR template.
Also added a new data view - "Cash Flow Unassigned Amounts".
Cash Flow
Manual Override of Auto-Distributed Cash Flow Values
For cash flow curves, you can switch between auto and manual profiles in the curve properties and manually override those amounts regardless of the profile. This enables both rapid creation and complete customization of curves.
Cost Sheets
Advanced Filters in Cost Sheets
You can now create multiple conditions for Cost Sheet views, using both OR and AND conditions. You can also use the same data element more than once. For example, you might view cost codes that match either of two conditions.
CBS Sheets
Filter Support in CBS Pickers (BP Record Level)
This enhancement allows you to define query conditions to control which CBS codes are available for users to select. For example, a cost code that captures the budget for contingency or Owner Reserve should not be available for contracts or change orders; this can be filtered using a query condition.
Interface
BP Record Windows Open Wider
When you create a new business process record, the pop-up window is drawn wider to better accommodate line item fields.
BP Record Import
Streamlined CSV-based BP Record Creation
Creating a business process record from CSV files is easier now, with all file uploads – including relevant attachments – now handled via a drag-and-drop interface on a single screen. If an attachment is missing, you can still import it at a later stage. For a document-type BP, Unifier will process only the attachments referenced at the Line Item level. This interface will still block disallowed file types.
Document Manager
Import Document Manager Attributes from Excel or CSV Files
You can now export and import Document Manager attributes using either an Excel file or a CSV file. Previously, Unifier could only import Document Manager attributes via CSV files. With this enhancement, native Excel files can also be used.
Shell Templates
Copy BP Restrictions when Creating New Shells from Templates
When you create a new shell from a template, Unifier will copy restrictions defined in the record properties of Business Process setups from the selected shell template to the new shell.
This copying of restrictions also applies when a shell is created by copying from a shell template or copying an existing project in Administration mode.
DocuSign
Support for DocuSign Notifications
When a document is sent to multiple signers using DocuSign, the sender who initiated the process will be notified when all recipients have signed.
Activity Sheets
Two Rate Sheet Fields now Optional for Manual Activity Sheets
The fields Rate Sheet for Planning and Rate Sheet for Actuals are no longer required when creating a manual Activity Sheet. This applies when creating a Manual Activity Sheet from the log and from a shell template. This enables the creation of duration-based schedules.
Additional Enhancements
Automatic Changes - Included in the Configuration Pack
Line Item Statuses - Updated Defaults: line item statuses in the following areas have updated default values:
- Document Approval: "In Review"
- Master Area Template: "Active"
- Specification Section Template: "Active"
- Submittal: "Active"
- Vendor: "Active"
Warranty BP: Added line item statuses "Active" & "Inactive"; defaults to "Active"
Change Order BP: Line Item Consolidation is updated to allow consolidation of previously-consolidated line items when a Change Order status is "Canceled" or "Rejected". This allows previously consolidated Change Request line items to be selected on a subsequent Change Order if an earlier Change Order is Canceled or Rejected.
Query Conditions for the "Originating Change Request" BP Data Picker are now changed to match the Project Number, showing only Change Requests from the same project as the Change Order.
Manual Changes
Group Administration Updates: Updated the Company Administrator group to include new functionality in the Integrations and System Information nodes of the Company Workspace. Administrators will need to update Company-level Access Control to use this feature.
Permissions for the Company Administrators group are now hidden in Commitment Summaries, Activity Sheets (old), Schedule Sheets, and OBS Sheets.
The Project Administrators group is added to the permission set for the Project Configuration BP record in the Oracle Project shell template. This allows all members of the Project Administrators group in a new shell to modify that shell's Project Configuration record. The Oracle Project template is automatically updated; update your own templates via copy to template.
What's New - Primavera Unifier Essentials 22.11
November 2022
Master Log
Project Configuration BP in the Home Navigator Master Log
Company Administrators now have the "Master Log - Business Processes" node in their Home workspace navigator, with the Project Configuration business process inside. This allows members of the company administrators group to view and bulk-edit project configurations.
Reports
Project Schedule Report
The Project Schedule Report is now available at the Project level. This provides a Gantt chart, with filters and display options including milestone-only and WBS grouping. Weekly and monthly layouts are provided.
Create Permission-Based Reports
In company and shell templates, create permission-based user-defined reports. This saves time from having to recreate these after you create shells. You can also push permission-based UDR templates to selected shells or all shells.
When you create a new UDR in a company or shell template, choose whether to use System Data Sources or Permission Based Data Sources.
Security
Grant Limited Administration Permissions
An administrator can now grant specific permissions to project members for only some user administration tasks, without giving those members all permissions related to users.
Adding users and modifying their statuses, permissions, and properties are individually assignable rights. This allows an administrator to permit project leaders to add users without necessarily changing their permissions.
Cash Flow by CBS
Support of Unit and Cost Spreads from Manual Activity Sheets
You can now use cost spreads such as Actual, Planned, Remaining, and At Completion cost at the CBS level from manual activity sheets as a data source for baselines, forecasts, and spending curves in forecast analyses.
Unit spreads like Planned, Actual, Remaining, and At Completion units can also be used.
Dynamic Data Sets
Auto-Select Values in Email Responses
New functionality introduced last month – where, if a value set has only one possible value, a dropdown list can be forced to select that single value automatically -- has been extended to email responses this month.
What's New - Primavera Unifier Essentials 22.10
October 2022
Workflows
New Serial Document Approval Workflow
A new workflow – Serial Approval (5 Level) – allows the user creating the Document Approval record to select approvers for up to five approval steps. One or two alternate approvers may be selected for each step.
The completion policy for the approval steps is set to single, so any of the approvers can advance the record. The new workflow has been added to the Project Template, but is inactive by default.
The Document Approval Custom Print includes the Approval Plan when the new Document Approval workflow is used.
Custom Reports
RFI Log Report
You can now run an RFI Log report at any level of the project hierarchy to see a full list of RFIs, including their questions and answers.
Business Processes
New Upload Window for Attachments
Uploading attachments in business processes features a new upload window that allows drag-and-drop operations, including revision options, file or file-and-folder uploads, and editing capabilities.
Enhanced drag-and-drop capabilities are also available in the Document Manager.
Cost Sheets
Standard Interface for Cost Sheet Columns in Shell Templates
The standard interface is now used for setting and updating columns in a Cost Sheet template. This configuration can be pushed to update either shells or shell templates.
CBS Attributes in Cost Sheet Columns and Views
Add CBS attribute data elements such as Status or Cost Item Type as read-only values in Cost Sheet columns. These data elements are also available for filter, group-by, and sort-by operations in views.
Worksheets
Worksheet Snapshots in Standard Interface
Worksheet snapshots are now handled using the standard interface, including the dialog for creating snapshots, the snapshot log, and the snapshots themselves.
Views
Enhanced Functionality for Filters in Funding Sheet Views
With this enhancement, you can define filters for any fund attribute – not just fund code and fund name. You can use AND or OR operators to match all conditions or any conditions. This allows you to create a filter to show all rows with Fund Code ABC or Short Description XYZ. You can also use a data element more than once within a filter, allowing you to specify, "show all rows with Fund Code ABC OR Fund Code XYZ."
Attachments
Rename Attachments in Business Processes
A new option in the gear menu in attachments allows you to rename a file that has already been uploaded.
The pop-up dialog will not allow duplicate or blank file names.
Templates
Push User Preference Templates to Partner Users
User preference templates can now be pushed out to partner users. The User/Group picker now allows an administrator to select Partner Company users as well as Sponsored Company users. The History log, under Update User Type, distinguishes Partner Users from Users, who are members of the sponsoring company.
Currency
Currency Decimal Places in Cash Flow, Portfolio Management
Support for currency decimal places – as defined in Standards & Libraries – is now extended to Project and Company Cash Flows as well as Portfolio Manager Sheets.
In shell templates where cashflow detail curves are defined, a new option titled User Currency Decimal Precision allows the user to select the currency default precision or set decimal options manually.
In the Portfolio Manager, a user can choose manually-set decimal places or the currency's decimal precision.
Additional Enhancements
Automatic Changes
Vendor BP: Two fields – "Integration Line Item Identifier 1" and "Integration Line Item Identifier 2" – are added to each of the three line item forms to facilitate integration.
Project Template > Cash Flow: Configured Baseline Curve as an Inflow; Forecast and Actuals curves as Outflows. Set Forecast to compare to Baseline.
Manual Changes
Company Workspace: Hid the Asset Manager, Configurable Modules, Planning Manager, Resource Manager, Schedule Manager, and the Space Manager from the User Mode Navigator. (Note that company-level permissions will need to be updated.)

- View and edit record information
- Bulk-edit records across multiple shells
- Define filtered views
Document Manager
New Upload Window in the Document Manager
The Document Manager has a new upload window that allows drag-and-drop operations. This window includes revision options, file or file-and-folder uploads, and editing capabilities.
Activity Sheets
Assign Resources and Roles in Activity Sheets
Use the new Assignments tab in Activity sheets to add resources and roles to an activity. Resources may be manually created, drawn from the Master Rate Sheet, or received from P6.
Additional features:

- Spread Planned, At Completion, Actual, and Remaining cost using resource rates on the effective date.
- Calculate Actual, Remaining, and At Completion cost spread based on the data date.
- Note that Earned Value calculations are not available in Manual Activity Sheets.
Workflows
New Change Order Workflows
Two new workflows have been added for Change Orders:
- Guided Approval (3-Level) - Vendor Created
- Guided Approval (10-Level) - Vendor Created
These workflows allow Vendors to request Change Orders directly.
The "3 Level" workflow is added to the Project Template, but it is inactive by default.
New Initial Budget and Estimate Workflows
Three new workflows have been added for the Initial Budget business process:
- Ball in Court v2
- Guided Approval (3-Level) v2
- Guided Approval (10-Level) v2
These v2 workflows will automatically move the record past the initiation step so that the records are not started in Draft. The Ball in Court v2 workflow is now the default in the project template.
The Estimate business process in the Project Template has also been updated to bypass the initiation step.
Administration
Auto-Created Project Records
Administrators can now set up template records for the Estimate and Project Closeout business processes. When a project is created, new records are automatically added to the project.
- An Estimate can be set up with some or all cost codes, including quantities and lump sums so that amounts are ready to be keyed in. Estimate templates can also be set up by unit rate – such as cost/sq. ft – so that a project manager needs only fill down the square footage for each line item.
- Project Closeout Checklist templates can be created for use in different projects or project templates.
Vendors
Vendor Name Updates
The Vendor Name field is added to many business processes to identify vendors that are not linked to a vendor record and to ensure consistency for reporting and analytics.
For Miscellaneous Cost, Actuals Importer, and Actuals business processes, Vendor information fields are added. If there is a linked Vendor record, then those fields are auto-populated; if not, they can be manually entered.
In Risk, Issue, and Daily Report business processes, the Vendor Name field is added to a hidden block for reporting purposes. Inform
Templates
Improved Notifications in Workflow End Steps
In the Project Template, the following improvements indicate who will be notified when records reach their end steps:
- Added "Project Managers, Project Coordinators" for "Notify users or groups on workflow completion" for Guided Workflows in Contract, Change Order, Payment Application, Purchase Order, PO Amendment, and Invoice business processes.
- Automatically copied the Project Managers and Project Coordinators groups on the End step of Guided workflows for Initial Budget, Budget Change, Budget Transfer, Change Request, Fund Appropriation, Issue, Request for Bid, Request for Bid Unsealed, and Work Release business processes.
- Added "Creator" to "Add additional CC users from the following data elements" for Action Item and Document Approval business processes so that the creator is automatically notified upon workflow completion.
The Oracle Project Template is automatically updated; customer-built templates will need to be updated via a copy to those templates.
Additional Enhancements
- In Project Shell and the Project Request business process, the default Project Delivery Method is Design-Bid-Build.
- In the Project Template > Submittal business process, the Architect/Engineer is removed from the CC field on the End step of the Guided - Contractor Created with Coordination workflow.
- Vendor, Estimate, and Initial Budget business processes are updated with three hidden fields (Integration Status, Integration Last Update, Integration Message) to facilitate integration with other systems.
- In Daily Reports, the Issue Record field has been moved onto the Issue block so that users can drill down to see the Issue record created by that line item.
- The administrative BP Data Transfer process is added to the User Mode Navigator and visible to Project Administrators. This makes it easier to add users to the project in appropriate groups as well as create new Estimates and Project Closeout Checklists.
- In the Project Request business process, the Ball in Court workflow default status has been changed to Active, allowing Administrators to create new projects without a formal workflow.
- In the Vendor business process, the Line Item Status field on the Additional Addresses tab is now required.
- The following territories and areas have been added to a list of US States to align with Oracle Cloud ERP:
- AS - American Samoa
- FM - Federated States of Micronesia
- GU - Guam
- MC - Michoacan (corrected abbreviation)
- MH - Marshall Islands
- MP - Northern Mariana Islands
- PR - Puerto Rico
- PW - Palau
- VI - Virgin Islands
- The following user-defined reports have updated date/time columns to include the timestamp in the report output: UE Meeting Minutes Summary (Project Level), UE Meeting Minutes Details (Project Level), UE Incident Management Summary (Project Level).

June 2022What's New - Primavera Unifier Essentials 22.6
Help and Documentation
Guided Learning in Unifier Essentials
The Oracle Guided Learning tool is integrated with Unifier Essentials, providing in-app assistance and context-sensitive links to help files and other learning resources.
Wherever you are in Unifier Essentials, click the widget with the “I” inside the circle for global and/or context-sensitive help as well as step-by-step, interactive guides for common tasks.
Integration
Application Switcher Improvement
Users are able to switch from a Unifier project to the same project in a different application, such as Oracle Primavera Cloud, Aconex, or Textura.
Cash Flow Integration between Primavera Cloud and Unifier
Project managers now have seamless data transfer between Oracle Primavera Cloud and Unifier, allowing them to push project budgets or forecasts to OPC Planner and receive revised or approved budgets for additional reviews. In Unifier, project linking is accomplished by adding the OPC project ID in the integration tab of shell properties or using project services.
Establishing the link involves
- An Integrations node in the Company Workspace
- Project Linking through direct integration or project Xref services
- OPC Sources Configuration
- Cash Flow log and Shell log changes to push data to and received data from OPC
Administration
Improved Separation between Production and Non-Production Data
You can now have additional levels of separation between Production and non-Production projects. On creation and any time after, projects can be classified as Production, Testing, Training, etc. In this release, we've added the ability to tag Vendors and Master Service Agreements with the same classification. This ensures that, for example, a non-Production project does not incorrectly reference a Production Vendor (which could result in an email getting sent to that Vendor). The same applies to Master Service Agreements.
Proxy Support for Collaborator Users
A collaborator user can now have a proxy – including another collaborator user. This prevents a situation where a task is stuck because a collaborator is on leave or unable to work on the task. A collaborator user can have a proxy who is
- a Standard User belonging to the Owner company
- a Standard User belonging to the Partner Company, or
- a Collaborator User belonging to the Partner Company
Warranty Business Process
Warranty Business Process Location Tracking
Location information can now be added to the Warranty business process. This includes both latitude/longitude coordinates, as well as up to 5 tiers of a location breakdown structure. There are multiple ways to add the location data:
- Selecting an Area for the Warranty
- Selecting a location on a map (lat/long only)
- Selecting your current location (lat/long only, mobile only)
Document Manager
Saving the Vendor Name to the Document Manager
When documents are attached to a business process form, Unifier automatically saves them to a pre-defined (configurable) location in the Document Manager (DM) of that project. In addition to the document, some metadata is also saved from the source business process to help find the appropriate documents. In this release, we've ensured that - where applicable, the Vendor name is also saved as a document attribute in the DM. This makes searching for documents related to a particular Vendor much easier, and also helps if integrating the DM to external document management systems.
Reports and Dashboards
Translations for Pre-Built Custom Prints and Reports (Phase 1)
Reports and Custom Prints now support output in 8 different languages. In the next phase of this project, we'll add support for more translation of the underlying data (i.e. Status, Workflow Step Names, etc.).
Workflows
Updated Workflows: Change Orders, Change Requests and Issues
New Ball In Court v2 workflows have been added for Change Orders, Change Requests and Issues. These business processes have special workflows that go to a Prepare step when auto-created so dollars don't disappear from the cost sheet on auto-creation. What was missing, and is now introduced in the v2 BIC WF, is the ability to go straight from Prepare to End, without any additional review, for customers who don't need additional approval for these processes.
Activity Sheets
Support for Work Hours in Calendar and Date/Time for Activity Sheets
Resources can be assigned to the activities with work effort estimates at the hour level. Working hours per day can be defined in Activity Sheets calendars as well as custom calendars. In addition, durations will be calculate based on work hours and hours/day based on date and time pickers.
Cash Flows
Allow Updates to SOV Descriptions
With this enhancement, contractors or subcontractors are able to edit Description/Breakdown information for line items even after they have been added to or rolled up the SOV Sheet.
Data Structure Setup
Define Number of Decimal Places for Currency Fields
Unifier administrators can specify from zero to four decimal places when defining a currency. All formulas, auto-populate, and reverse auto-populate currency elements will honor the decimal places defined for the currency. Once a currency has been defined, the "Decimal Places" field will no longer be editable.
Day 1 Impact:
Existing business process records and sheets with currency amounts will be rounded off tothe decimal places specified in the currency details window for the selected project/base and transactional currency. Currencies with two decimal places will not show any changes.
Additional Enhancements
- Added new Cost Sheet Template at the Company Level to make Org Cost Sheet easier during setup.
- Contract/PO pickers in some non-SOV-related business processes now allow users to select Contracts/POs that are not yet approved. Affected BPs: Architect's Supplemental Instructions, Change Directive, Change Request, Daily Report, Issue, Journal Entry, Owner Walk Through, Punch List Item, Request for Information, RFI, Risk, Submittal, Submittal Package, and Warranty.
