Copying the Resource Object in Gateway: Example

To facilitate a Unifier - P6 integration, you want to identify only IT administrators to organize the resource information in both applications. Duplicate the Resource object in Gateway and edit the fields to identify the new employees as follows:

1. Select Data Dictionary and then select Gateway.
2. Select the row listing the Resource object.
3. Select the Actions menu and then select Copy.

   A Resource Copy object is created.

4. In the General step, rename Resource Copy as ResourceIT

   Note: Select Next on each screen to advance to the next step.

5. In the Fields step, add, edit, or delete fields that are to be supported by the ResourceIT business object.
6. (Optional) In the Flow Control step, select the flows that the ResourceIT object will be available.

   By default, the ResourceIT object is supported in the Master Data and Project Data flows.

7. In the Cross reference step, the ObjectId field is mapped to the Resource object by default.

   Note: The cross-reference keys for each Gateway object must map to itself. However, since the duplicate object in this case has not yet created, you cannot map it to ResourceIT object. After saving the duplicate object, you will need to edit this object and change the cross-reference key mapping.

8. In the Summary step, review a summary of all the selections made in the previous steps:
   1. Expand each step title to review the selections made in that step.
   2. Select any of the following actions:
      • Select Back to navigate to a specific step and make changes.
      • Select Save to add the provider object to the data dictionary.

   The ResourceIT object is now added to the Gateway data dictionary.

9. Edit the cross-reference key mapping for the ResourceIT object as follows:
   1. Select the ResourceIT object row and then select Edit....
   2. In the Cross Reference step of the Objects and Fields wizard:
      1. In the Key Field field drop-down, select ObjectId.
      2. In the Gateway Objects field, select ResourceIT.
      3. Select Add.

         The cross-reference key field is now mapped to ResourceIT instead of Resource.

10. Select Save and exit the wizard.
