Product Copy Wizard

The Product Copy utility allows to selectively copy a product to another subsidiary company or product. This enables the user to reuse the existing product set up data, the business rules, transactions, segments etc by copying it from one Company / Product hierarchy structure to another. This functionality is similar to that of Plan Copy functionality.

Security

Only the users that has 'Utilities-ProductCopy' privilege can access the ProductCopy option of this Product Copy utility. To support this, a new privilege will be added in IVSPRIVILEGE entity as follows:

• PRIVILEGENAME - Utilities - ProductCopy

• Description - Allow access to Product Copy Tool

Release Management

The user can deploy the Product Copy config package using normal or detached migration. Should run any DML script available as part of the package manually before deploying the config package. These DML scripts will contain the information of product relationship hierarchy. In case the user decides to change the hierarchy , user can modify the DML script manually before executing it.

Steps to Copy the Product

1. In OIRP application, under Tools main menu, click ProductCopy. The OIPA Product Copy window is displayed.
2. Select Target Environment. On clicking the name of the Target Environment, the user will be prompted to enter the Target Environment's Database credentials. Enter the credentials and click Ok.

3. Set Product Properties and click Next.

   • Choose the source product that needs to copied.

     • Select the primary company from the drop down.

     • Select the Subsidiary company from the drop down and then select the product from the product lookup.
   • Under the Target Properties, select the destination Subsidiary company from the drop down to which the product that needs to copied.

     • Select the target product under the Subsidiary company using the product lookup. By default, 'New Product Name' field will be populated with the same name as source product, which can be edited with the required name. The selected source product is copied to the destination.

   

Additional Steps to Finalize Product Copy

Once a new Product is copied into the target environment, a series of steps must be completed in order to finalize the Product copy.

1. By default, the Create Config Package Only will not be checked. If 'Checked', the system will not copy the set up data and rules of the product, but it will create the config package which can be deployed using normal /detached migration.
   • Choose business rules.
   • Choose transactions.
   • Choose Segments.
   • Choose Product Fund.
   • Choose Comments Templates.
2. Release Management: Enter New Package Name to create a new release package or select the select the existing release package to add this selection in the below Screen and click Next.

Note: In the above steps, if 'Create Config Package Only' is checked, then 'Add To Configuration Package' will be checked and disabled.



3. Review and Completion: On reviewing and completion of the above steps, click Finish. The system will copy all the selected set up data and rules.
