Upgrade Process
An upgrade is similar to an implementation; however, upgrades are more efficient because they leverage your previous implementation, acquired knowledge, and outputs. You can also upgrade within your organization's change management system.
The five phases of an upgrade are:
- Scope
- Design
- Configure
- Go-Live
- Optimize
The following graphic presents the lifecycle of a typical P6 EPPM upgrade project.
The technology activities associated with an upgrade typically represent one-third of the overall project workload and include upgrading the application objects, master configuration data, and business transactional data that comprise the foundation for development and functional activities.
