Running the Project Checker

  1. Choose Tools, Project Checker.
  2. Select at least one project from the list of available projects and click Add to list.
  3. In the Options area select or clear the options to determine the aspects of the project to check.

If you select Business Rule Checks, the report will show information about any violations of P6 Professional business rules in the selected projects, including orphaned and mismatched data.

If you select Foreign Key Checks, the report will show information about missing foreign keys within the data associated with the selected projects.

If you select Unique Key Constraints, the report will show information about data with matching unique keys associated with the selected projects.

  4. In the Report area, choose how and where you want the report to be written.

If you choose to Group By Options, the report will have expandable sections for each of the options you selected and each of the checks performed will be numbered. If you choose to clear this option, the report will list all checks on performed in a flat list without numbering.

If you choose to Overwrite Existing, you will no longer be able to access earlier versions of the report if they are stored in the location entered in the Save Report To field. If you choose to clear this option, P6 Professional will append the date and time in revers notation to the report file name.

If you choose to Run Priority Checks Only, severity 3 and 4 checks will not be run against the projects selected. If you choose to clear this option, all checks will be run against the projects selected, regardless of the priority of the check.

If you choose to Report Errors Only, the report will only list violations of Business Rules, Foreign Key Constraints, and Unique Key Constraints (depending on the options you selected). If you choose to clear this option, the report will include information about all Business Rule, Foreign Key Constraint, and Unique Key Constraint checks even where no violations were found.

  5. Click Run Report.
