Create or Edit a Permission Template
Permission templates are sets of permissions that can be applied to users or groups of users as a whole. This is often an easier alternative to setting individual access permissions, especially when setting up groups and working with large project/shell teams. You can apply the template to a user or group to set basic permissions, then modify the permissions for individuals or groups if needed.
Any project/shell level permission granted at the company level and then applied to a specific user or group of users is inherited at project/shell creation time. The user permissions can then be modified at the project/shell level if further modifications are necessary.
By design, when you create a Permission-based UDR report at the template level:
- The company level BPs, and the company level Document Manager, data sources will not be available in the Data Type pulldown (drop-down) field.
- The shell level BPs, and the shell level Document Manager, data sources will be available in the Data Type pulldown (drop-down) field.
To create a permission template:
- Go to the Company Workspace tab and switch to Admin mode.
- In the left Navigator, click Standards & Libraries > Permission Templates. The Permission Templates log opens.
- Click the New button. The Edit Permission Template window opens.
- Add a name and description of the template in the General tab.
- Click the Permissions tab. This window is the same as the Permissions tab for an individual user or group record.
- Configure the permissions settings and click OK.
To edit a permission template:
- Select the template from the Permission Template log and click the Open button. The Edit Permission Template window opens.
- You can edit the name or description in the General tab.
- Click the Permissions tab and adjust permission settings as needed.
- Click OK.
To create a permission template from existing permission settings:
- Go to the Company Workspace tab and switch to Admin mode.
- In the left Navigator, click User Administration > Groups.
- Select a group and click Open.
- Click the Permissions tab.
- Click the Save as Template button. Enter a template name and click OK.
