Displaying Custom Strings and System Strings

The following describes how Custom Strings and System Strings are displayed in Admin mode and while defining Sheets and User Defined Reports (UDRs).

Note

Content displayed in the UI (also known as System Strings) cannot be modified by users. System Strings are available in different languages and are displayed based on user preferences.

Examples of System Strings

In contrast, user-created content (also known as Custom Strings) can be translated into different languages.

Examples of Custom Strings

System Strings are translated according to the language set in the User Preferences window.

Custom Strings are translated based on the specifications defined for the source string in the XLIFF file.

When System Strings and Custom Strings are combined (concatenated), such as in a form:

As a result, different fields within the same object may appear in different languages.

In general, translated Custom Strings are not displayed in Admin mode, except in the following cases:
