Configure Unique Values for a Data Element

To configure unique values for a data element in the design of a business process:

  1. Go to the Company Workspace tab, and switch to Admin mode.
  2. In the left Navigator, select uDesigner, and then select Business Processes.
  3. In the Designer - Business Processes log (right pane), select a business process, and select Open. For example, select the Budget Items BP.
  4. From the Open menu (Open Menu Icon) , select Data Elements.
  5. In the Data Elements Configuration window, select the Unique tab, and then select Add.
  6. In the Select Data Element with Unique Value window, specify the following information:
    1. From the Data Element drop-down list, select a data element to configure for unique values.
    2. Set the level for evaluating the uniqueness of the data element value. Choices include:
      • Company: Select this option to enforce unique values in the selected data elements on all records in the entire company.
      • Project/Shell: Select this option to enforce unique values across all records in the current project/shell.
      • Tab: Select this option to enforce unique values for a line-item field in the current tab. After deploying the business process, existing records will not be impacted or checked unless the record is edited and line-items are added or edited.
    3. Select OK.
  7. Select Apply, and then select OK.
