A conflict may occur in which the option of overriding database information or objects is not available. In such a case, the conflict report dialog box does not appear. Instead, the Import PPM Package application displays an error message indicating that the import process failed and the reasons for the import failure. When a package import fails, the database may become corrupt, and should be restored.
Situations in which the import process fails in this manner include:
- The package contains a category with the same identifier as an existing category, but with a different value type. For example, the category in the database has the "Integer" value type and the category in the package has the "Date/Time" value type.
- The package contains a category with the same identifier as an existing category, both of the "Value List" value type, but they use a different value list name. For example, the category "Risk" has the "Value List" value type in both database and package, but in the database the list is called "Level" while in the package it is called "Severity".
- The package contains a category with the same identifier as an existing category, but with a different data type. For example, the category in the database has Values and Indicators, while the category in the package has Indicators only.
If you receive an error message indicating that the import of the package could not be completed, click Copy in the Import Errors dialog box to copy the error information to the clipboard. Append this information to an e-mail message to your technical support representative at Oracle Primavera. Be sure to also include the following information:
- The product, package, database type, and release versions involved.
- A conflict report, if conflicts occurred.
- How the conflicts were resolved.
