Setting Up Postal Codes

This section provides an overview of Swiss postal code maintenance and discusses how to update postal codes.

Global Payroll for Switzerland is delivered with Swiss postal codes. The system uses the postal codes to validate and prompt for municipality codes. You can view the contents of the Postal Code table and load updates from the Swiss Post website.

For GP Switzerland users, the menu (Set Up HCM, Product Related, Global Payroll & Absence Mgmt, Framework, Organizational, Postal/Municipality Codes CHE) for updating Postal and Municipality Codes has changed.

GP Switzerland customers are provided features to load the Postal Codes & Municipality Codes by downloading the Ortschaftenverzeichnis der Schweiz Excel Sheet (do-t-09.02-gwr-37), which is available from the Swiss Federal Statistical Office Website

To install the update, the user has to download the data from folder Ortschaftenverz.-Rép. Localités, save this folder as .csv and then upload this .csv by using Load Files CHE, file type Postal Codes.

User may consider as well to upload the enhanced files provided by Oracle along with regular announcements of legal changes. For more information please see Global Payroll for Switzerland Position Statement 2017 (Doc ID 2216589.1)
