Comparing Engineering Routings

Within the same business unit, you can extensively compare any two engineering routings or compare an engineering routing to a manufacturing routing.

This topic lists common elements and discusses how to compare engineering routings.

Differences

Displays the differences between two routings. If you have made a change to routing operations, you see the routings listed as Chg RTG1 and Chg RTG2, respectively. The system lists a change when any information differs between two matching operation sequences. Differences include:

  • Added: An element has been added to the engineering routing (RTG2).

  • Deleted: An element has been deleted from the engineering routing (RTG2).

  • Chg RTG1: You have made a change to routing operations for RTG1.

The system lists a change when any information differs between two matching operation sequences.

  • Chg RTG2: You have made a change to routing operations for RTG2. The system lists a change when any information differs between two matching operation sequences.

Use the Routing Comparison - Rtg Selections (routing comparison - routing selections) page (EG_RTG_INQ_CMP) to select engineering routings to compare.

Navigation:

Engineering > Routings > Routing Comparison > Rtg Selections

This example illustrates the fields and controls on the Routing Comparison - Rtg Selections page. You can find definitions for the fields and controls later on this page.

Routing Comparison - Rtg Selections page

Baseline Routing (RTG1)

The default value for the Routing State field is Engineering, but you can also select Manufacturing.

Select an item ID and a routing code for the first routing that you're using for this comparison.

Target Routing (RTG2)

The default value for the Routing State field is Engineering.

Select an item ID and a routing code for the target routing.

Click the Compare Routings button to display the two routing comparisons.

Use the Routing Comparison - Header: Details page (EG_RTG_HDR_CMP) to display routing header data for both routings being compared.

Navigation:

Engineering > Routings > Routing Comparison > Header > Details

This example illustrates the fields and controls on the Routing Comparison - Header: Details page. You can find definitions for the fields and controls later on this page.

Routing Comparison - Header: Details page

The system displays the routing header data for both routings, including routing, description, priority, and text, and whether the routing is to be copied to production or PeopleSoft Supply Planning.

Use the Routing Comparison - Operations: Details page (EG_RTG_OPS_CMP) to compare operation differences of two routings.

Navigation:

Engineering > Routings > Routing Comparison > Operations > Details

This example illustrates the fields and controls on the Routing Comparison - Operations: Details page. You can find definitions for the fields and controls later on this page.

Routing Comparison - Operations: Details page

This page displays differences in operation sequence, task code, simultaneous setup and queue (not available if PeopleSoft Supply Planning is installed) and other information.

Resources Tab

The system displays the operation sequence, work center, crew size, and machine resources.

Conversion/Overheads Tab

The system displays the operation sequence, conversion code and description, as well as the conversion overhead codes

Supplier Details Tab

The system displays the operation sequence, supplier ID, and supplier name. You can access the supplier fields only if the operation is subcontracted.

Subcontracted Tab

This page displays the differences associated with the subcontracted operations.

Text Tab

The system displays the operation sequence and any associated operation text.

Use the Routing Comparison - Operations: Resources page (EG_RTG_RSRC_CMP) to compare operation resource differences of two routings.

Navigation:

Engineering > Routings > Routing Comparison > Operations > Resources

This example illustrates the fields and controls on the Routing Comparison - Operations: Resources page. You can find definitions for the fields and controls later on this page.

Routing Comparison - Operations: Resources page

The system displays the operation sequence; resource type; crew, machine, or tool information; the quantity used; and priority.

Use the page (EG_RTG_TIME_CMP) to compare the operation time differences of two routings.

Navigation:

Engineering > Routings > Routing Comparison > Operations > Times

This example illustrates the fields and controls on the Routing Comparison - Operations: Times page. You can find definitions for the fields and controls later on this page.

Routing Comparison - Operations: Times page

The system displays the operation sequence, time or resource type, operation time, time unit, operation rate, rate unit, and any operation times.
