Masking of Data in OpenSearch Dashboards

PeopleSoft provides the ability to mask personally identifiable information (PII) or sensitive data for a restricted user in OpenSearch Dashboards.

To mask PII or sensitive data, see the product documentation for PeopleSoft Enterprise Components, "Data Privacy Framework," Enabling Query Data Masking.

Note the following when you mask sensitive data for restricted users in OpenSearch Dashboards:

  • When an administrator creates a saved search from the Discover tab and it includes a sensitive field, then for the restricted user, the field is available but its values are not displayed.

  • For restricted users, visualizations do not appear if PII or sensitive information is present. The PII or sensitive information is masked in the data table visualization.

  • For restricted users, if a data table visualization contains PII or sensitive data, then the data table will show No result found.

  • For restricted users, fields with PII or sensitive data are hidden in saved search.

  • PII or sensitive information does not appear in filter criteria and KQL Search.
