Declining a Task
Sometimes you have the option of declining a task. If you are the only person assigned to a step in the workflow, or if the creator of the workflow has not granted permission to decline a task, this is not an option.
To decline a task from the Home workspace:
- Go to Home workspace, and select the Tasks node.
- Hover over the record, and select the gear menu (
). - Select Decline.
To decline a task from the specific business process log (Company Workspace and Project/Shell):
- Go to your business process and open the log from the Tasks node.
- Hover over the record, and select the gear menu (
). - Select Decline.
On declining a task:
- It is no longer displayed for you in the Workflow Progress tab of the BP record.
- For all other assignees, the status of this task remains In Progress. The Action Date in the Workflow Progress tab of the BP record reflects the point in time that the task status has changed.
For example, if a person accepts the task, it goes to In Progress for that person and Locked for all other assignees. The Action Date field reflects this for all other assignees. If that person later selects Undo Accept Task, it goes back to Not Started for all assignees, and the Action Date field is updated for all. If any of them declines, their task drops off, but since the status has not changed for the remaining assignees, the Action Date is not updated.
Note: You cannot decline if you are the only assignee.
