Impact of Unique Values on BP Line Items
When a business process is configured to have unique line item data elements in any tab, it impacts how the BP record is processed in the following situations:
Existing Records
For existing records:
- Uniqueness is checked only for new BP records, or for new or edited line items within existing records.
- Existing line items in any existing records are not checked for uniqueness when new line items are added or existing line items are updated within the record.
Record Copy
When you attempt to copy an existing record with duplicate values for the data element, the line items are not populated in to a new record.
- For Workflow business process records, the record is created and the upper form data elements are populated, However, line items are not added to the record.
- For Non-workflow business process records, the record is not created.
Line Item Consolidation
When line items are consolidated and they result in duplicate values, an error message is displayed and the line items are not added to the BP record.
BP Record Autocreation
If a record with duplicate values for the data element is configured for autocreation, record creation will not pass the initiation step (I-Step). Contact your administrator to resolve the duplication and advance the record.
Line Items with BP Line Item Creator
If a BP Line Item creator is configured to create line items within a business process that has uniqueness configured on a line item data element, if any of the line items being created results in duplication within the record, then none of the line items are created.
Using the Grid View
When managing line items within a business process record using the Grid view, it is important to save the record between any copy and delete actions to ensure validations related to line item unique data elements are processed successfully.
