Create a Folder
You can create a folder at the root level of the project/shell or Company Documents nodes, or within any existing folder. You can also create several folders within the same parent folder.
When you create a folder, you become its owner by default and have full read, write, and edit privileges. For other users to access the folder and its contents, you must grant permission. It is recommended that you understand the permissions settings before creating folders.
You can create multiple folders within the same parent folder, and these folders can share similar properties.
Folder names cannot include the following special characters: / \ : * ? " < > |
Note: First-level folders might be locked by a document administrator. This restriction prevents changes or additions to folders directly under the project/shell or Company Documents nodes, preserving the main folder structure. However, subfolders can still be created within existing folders.
To create a folder:
- Select the folder in which you want to create another folder, or select the project/shell or Company Documents root node.
- From the toolbar, select Create, and then select Folder.
The Create Folder window opens. This window is identical to the Folder Properties window, which can be viewed for existing folders.
- In the Properties tab, enter values in the editable fields.
The other fields are system-defined or optional.
- Select the Options tab, and select the applicable options.
- Choose one of the following:
- To create a single folder, select Save. The folder is created, and the Create Folder window closes.
- To create another folder in the same parent folder, select Save & Create New. Repeat steps 3 through 5.
- To cancel the creation of a folder, select Cancel.
