About OAuth and Oracle Cloud Infrastructure
The Basic authentication scheme uses a Base64 encoded value of "user:password". The Bearer authentication scheme uses an OAuth token.
- To access APIs using Basic authentication, the user needs to provide Base64 encoded value of "user:password"
- To access APIs using OAuth, the user needs to provide a Bearer token.
Information in this document describes two different authentication schemes:
- Bearer authentication using OAuth: To access APIs using OAuth, you must provide a bearer token.
- Basic authentication: To access APIs using Standard authentication, you must provide Base64 encoded value of "user:password".
Information marked with OAuth is only applicable to P6 customers hosted on Oracle Cloud Infrastructure (oraclecloud.com). If you are unsure about where your instance is hosted, please contact your Customer Success Manager or an application administrator.
Where there is information that is for Basic Authentication only, it is marked with the word Traditional.
