About P6 Professional
P6 Professional is a separate component that integrates traditional project management with streamlined resource and cost management. It is ideal for planners and schedulers.
Note If you decide to use P6 Professional and connect to a P6 EPPM database, you must still use P6 to administer user accounts, some enterprise data, and other settings.
P6 Professional connected to a P6 EPPM database includes a subset of the P6 features. P6 Professional also includes several of its own specialized features. As a primary example, P6 Professional includes the P6 Visualizer application for creating, viewing, and modifying Gantt charts, timescaled logic diagrams (TSLDs), and Schedule Comparisons. Gantt charts provide a graphical display of the project's schedule information in the order determined by grouping and sorting options. The Gantt chart shows each activity's duration, using the timescale specified, as a horizontal bar. A line connecting activity bars indicates a relationship. Gantt charts allocate a row for each activity. TSLDs allow more than one activity per row, which condenses the entire project plan and the paths of activities that drive the project schedule. TSLDs present a graphic depiction of activities and the overall logic of a project according to time. Schedule Comparisons allow you to compare selected data fields in a revised project and its corresponding original project or a revised project and a corresponding baseline.
P6 Professional is available for P6 EPPM users working in a Cloud environment.
P6 Professional is also available for users who need to work on their projects in an offline mode.
Note Module access to P6 Visualizer is controlled separately from access to P6 Professional.
